Job description

Eventide Williamsburg in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Culinary Cook to work full time, temporarily. This schedule includes a weekend and holiday rotation.

The Culinary Cook is responsible for preparing food items in large quantities. This includes all living communities, Eventide Residences, Meals on Wheels and/or catering. This position is responsible for assisting in training new cooks, improving recipes, and monitoring use of leftovers.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided.
  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food products for consumption in all units.
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
  • Provides personalized service during guest interactions.
  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with unloading, receiving, and stocking food/supply delivers from the food delivery truck. 
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing major kitchen equipment by completing daily and weekly cleaning assignments.

Ideal Candidate

  • COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including medical terminology related to the job.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability of 50 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Eventide’s discretion.
  • EQUIPMENT USAGE: Standard and specialized equipment including but not limited to steam jacket, two-compartment electric steamer, Rational Ovens, conventional oven, fan, convection oven, grill, fryer, microwave, warmer, Buffalo food processor, slicer, food chopper, large and small mixers, blender, food processors, refrigerator, freezers, and garbage disposal, computer and food service software.
  • AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in quantity food production in health care facility or similar competency level preferred.  
  • CREDENTIALS: Prep/Cook Level Food Handler Permit required for Eventide campuses in Lancaster County. Must meet Eventide's vaccination requirements.

At Eventide, we value our employees and offer a competitive starting pay range of $17.50-19.60 per hour for Culinary Cooks based on qualifications, experience, and location. Shift premiums and differentials are also available, for select positions, paid on employment status and shift worked.
