Catering Lead Server

As an Off-site Catering Lead Server, you are part of a team tasked to ensure our events meet the high quality service expectations our clients are hiring us to provide for their event. You and your team must provide courteous and effective service by maintaining an efficient, clean, and helpful atmosphere while on duty. As a Server, you were expected to take direction well and be a team player. As a Lead Server, you are being given larger responsibilities in the task of providing excellent customer service on your own. 

Prerequisites to the Lead Server Position: 1-2 years in Fine Dining or Equivalent Catering Experience and Clean Driving Record

Your general personal responsibilities include:
  • Reporting to work on time and in proper dress code.
  • Following all Food Handlers and OLCC regulations. 
  • Upholding Sheild Service Standards before, during, and after events. 
  • Acting as an efficient and strong member of our service team during your shift.
  • Maintaining a courteous and professional attitude at all times.
  • Assisting the team in packing, staging, and cleaning for all events.
  • Monitoring food items to ensure quality of presentation and safety are maintained.
  • Helping with other duties/special projects. 
What knowledge and skills Sheild Catering expects of all team members:
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail. 
  • Ease in staying organized during a hectic situation.
  • Ability to problem solve in situations with high ambiguity. 
  • Ability to stay calm and collected in periods of high stress.
  • Strong and clear written and spoken communication with the team.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean record. 
  • Current Food Handler’s License
  • Current OLCC when handling alcohol as regulations require. 
Your specific Lead Server responsibilities include:
  • Serving an event on your own or alongside 1-2 servers.
  • Ability to understand and enforce BEOs (banquet event order).
  • Assisting your Event Captain as a Lead Server during events. 
  • Being on our Company Car Insurance as a Driver. 
  • A current OLCC and ability to serve as a Bartender.
  • Basic ability to direct and teach new servers on Sheild Service Standards. 
  • Familiarity with Sheild menu. 
The physical demands of the position include:
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to work during the heat of Summer and the cold of Winter as well as in other weather conditions.
