GEO Next Generation High School is a high-quality innovative charter high school in NE Baton Rouge, managed and supported by the GEO Foundation. Built as a launching pad, not a destination, and logical next step for students attending GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City, GEO Next Generation High School is an open-enrollment, tuition-free, college immersion public high school that partners with Baton Rouge Community College to provide real college campus and class experience to our students while they are in high school. 


REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal

This is a full time 12-month position


The Associate Principal is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Work with office administration to monitor and maintain student and staff attendance
  • Support dean of students and teachers with discipline issues
  • Support the school's vision and goals for student achievement
  • Articulate and foster the school's desired culture
  • Participate in writing and updating the Student Handbook
  • Assist the principal with staff supervision and evaluation
  • Act with integrity and fairness when relating to students and staff
  • Maintain and protect the rights and confidentiality of others
  • Participate in parent meetings regarding students
  • Inform the principal or lead principal of any problems, concerns or suggestions that have an impact on the operation of the school
  • Assist the principal in developing the student master schedule
  • Help to manage fiscal and physical school resources efficiently and effectively
  • Assist the principal with teacher and academic support staff recruitment
  • Promote parent and community involvement within the school as part of a comprehensive public relations program
  • Assist in overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities and report concerns to the building principal and operations manager.
  • Stay informed of current trends and legal requirements governing (State) schools
  • Consistent evaluations
  • Complete assigned tasks and requests in a timely manner
  • Assume additional duties if needed in the event of the principal's absence
  • Participate in coordinated routine monitoring of lesson plans and assessments
  • Monitor duty assignments in assigned areas
  • Oversee the orderly arrival and dismissal of students
  • Coordinate and/or host school events and meetings
  • Work on short term and long-term projects
  • Attend all building staff meetings
  • Assist principal with student and parent written communications
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for parent, community, staff and volunteers
  • Support school programs and activities such as musical programs, recognition ceremonies, holiday celebrations, school sports events etc.
  • Sets ambitious, data driven goals and a vision for achievement; invests teachers, students, and other stakeholders in that vision. 
  •  Facilitates collaboration between teams of teachers 
  •  Observes teachers and provides feedback on instruction regularly
  • Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the principal or lead principal

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree or higher
  • Appropriate Grade Level (State) Principal License
  • 5 Years' experience functioning as a Master Teacher
  • Commitment to mission and organizational goals of the organization
