The Los Angeles Equestrian Center (LAEC) is a one-of-a-kind, 75-acre property nestled in the heart of Griffith Park, dedicated to the love of horses and the equestrian community. LAEC offers a welcoming space for equine enthusiasts and professionals alike, providing boarding facilities, training arenas, and a calendar of events that range from local competitions to prestigious equestrian showcases. In addition to serving as a hub for horse-related activities, LAEC is also home to various special events, blending the charm of nature with the energy of LA's cultural scene.

Summary

The Event Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of event spaces before, during, and after events. This role focuses primarily on waste management, including monitoring trash and recycling stations, removing and replacing full liners, transporting waste to designated disposal areas, and supporting event setup and breakdown operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable performing physically demanding work in a fast-paced event environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor trash and recycling receptacles throughout the venue during events.
  • Remove, transport, and dispose of full trash and recycling bags in designated collection areas.
  • Replace liners and ensure receptacles remain clean, presentable, and functional.
  • Move, position, and service trash cans and waste stations as needed throughout the property.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving equipment, tables, chairs, barricades, and other event materials.
  • Patrol event spaces to identify and address cleanliness concerns.
  • Respond promptly to spills, overflow situations, and guest-facing cleanliness issues.
  • Maintain back-of-house waste collection areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Support venue operations staff with general labor tasks as assigned.
  • Follow all venue safety policies and procedures when lifting, transporting, and disposing of waste.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in event operations, custodial services, facilities, janitorial services, or related work preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as required by event schedules.
  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.

Work Environment

This position operates in an active event venue environment and requires frequent movement throughout the property. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and long hours based on event schedules. Employees should be comfortable working around large crowds, event production equipment, and fast-paced event operations.
