Job description

Job Title: Set-up Crew

Job Department: Convention Services

Job Pay Range: $16.50 - $18.00 / hour (Inclusive of hourly pay rate + service charge)

  • Breakdown: Based on $16.32 per hour base wage + service charge commission paid per shift; historically, this position averages service charge commission earnings of $1.00 - $2.00 per hour. Service charges fluctuate based on the time of year.
  • This position always earns at least the current Colorado minimum wage $15.16 per hour.

Job Summary:

As a Convention Services Set-up Crew, you will be responsible for supporting the banquet team, conference manager team, and other hotel departments by transforming our event spaces into flawless environments for high-end corporate conferences and exclusive events. This physically demanding role requires a sharp eye for detail, precision, and unwavering commitment to maintain five-star resort standards. You will work behind the scenes to execute floor plans exactly as requested, ensuring every piece of furniture, equipment, and décor is pristine and perfectly placed. Maintaining inventory of banquet supplies and maintaining a clean work area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Review Event Orders and diagram layouts to set up tables, chairs, stages, and all the stuff.
  • Transport, assemble, and arrange heavy banquet furniture and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Correctly and efficiently set up all functions which include all types of meetings and events.
  • Refresh function rooms during meals and breaks.
  • Align chairs, linens, and table settings perfectly according to luxury resort design standards.
  • Efficiently break down event setups, clear trash, and return all equipment to its proper storage area.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles and operate all equipment as intended, and complete knowledge of correct use of equipment.
  • Follow through on instructions from Supervisor & Manager as directed.
  • Inspect furniture and equipment for damages before and after events, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe back-of-house storage areas for all event inventory.
  • Transport items carefully through hallways and service elevators to avoid damaging walls, carpets, and doors.
  • Respond promptly and politely to last-minute guest requests or adjustments to room setups.
  • Coordinate closely with the banquet service, and culinary teams to ensure seamless event transition.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
  • Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.

What we are looking for:

 

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
  • Previous experience in hospitality setup, banquets, moving services, or warehouse logistics is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, as this role may involve transporting equipment across the Resort. Please note that all employees operating Broadmoor vehicles must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication.
  • A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
  • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.
