Job description

About First Class Security
First Class Security is a locally owned security provider headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee. Since 2010 we have protected more than 200 commercial and residential properties across Middle Tennessee. Our event division staffs concerts, festivals, corporate functions, private events, and venue engagements throughout the region.
Our officers are the first person most guests meet. We hire people who can hold a line and hold a conversation at the same time.
About the Role
This is as-needed work. We post events as they are booked, you claim the shifts that fit your schedule, and you are paid for the hours you work. There is no minimum weekly commitment and no penalty for passing on an event. Officers who show up on time, in uniform, and ready get first call on the schedule.
You will work screening, access control, and post assignments at event entrances and inside event spaces. The job is attentive and procedural: screen accurately, verify credentials correctly, document what you see, and escalate rather than engage.
What You Will Do
  • Operate walk-through metal detectors and handheld wands at guest entry points
  • Conduct bag checks and screen for weapons and prohibited items per the venue's posted policy
  • Verify tickets, wristbands, passes, and staff or vendor credentials at controlled access points
  • Staff entrances, exits, stages, back-of-house, VIP, and other assigned posts
  • Monitor crowd flow and capacity, and keep aisles, exits, and fire lanes clear
  • Assist guests with directions, seating, and general questions
  • Identify and report suspicious activity, policy violations, and safety hazards
  • De-escalate verbally and coordinate with the shift supervisor, venue staff, and local law enforcement when a situation exceeds your post authority
  • Complete accurate, factual incident and activity reports before end of shift
  • Follow all post orders, radio protocol, and chain of command

Required Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable security experience (event, venue, hospitality, retail, corporate, or patrol)
  • Active, valid Tennessee security guard license/registration in good standing with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance
  • Current Dallas Law certification, or willingness to complete it before your first assignment (Tennessee's required training in de-escalation, safe restraint, and first aid/CPR for security personnel at establishments serving alcohol). The course runs four hours and is available online.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to event sites across Middle Tennessee
  • Comfortable operating metal detection equipment and performing hands-on bag and credential screening
  • Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Able to communicate clearly and remain composed in loud, crowded, fast-moving environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience at concert venues, stadiums, arenas, festivals, or nightlife
  • Current CPR/AED and first aid certification
  • Experience with credential systems, ticket scanners, or access control software
  • Familiarity with Nashville-area venues

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for shifts of 4 to 12 hours, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds (barricade, signage, equipment)
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to monitor a crowd and communicate by radio

What We Provide
  • Uniform shirt and company patch. Officers supply black pants and black non-slip footwear.
  • Post orders and a site briefing before every event
  • On-site supervision at every engagement
  • Consistent event volume year-round, with peak season spring through fall
  • Weekly pay
