Job description

Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Manages all aspects of Havens Auditorium, including management, design, setup, lighting design, lighting setup, sound design, sound system operation, stage access, making sure all production stay within safety guidelines.
  • Manages contracts, billing, parking, building facilities.
  • Works with students and other departments when special production needs are requested.
  • Responsible for equipment acquisition and usage, safety of the patrons, public access to areas, emergency situation control, handicapped access and after event issues dealing with safety and security.
  • Acts as general support where needed within the Auditorium and Physical Facilities offices.
General Responsibilities
  • Directs and oversees the load-in and load-out process as well as the accurate installation of all stage scenery, equipment, rigging, and stage machinery for the theater as well as other staged performances and events.
  • Ensures that all scenery is installed according to engineering and construction intent. Assists with running all rehearsals and performances. Manages and is responsible for all storage facilities containing production inventory.
  • Coordinates with other members of the production to ensure that all production needs are being met in the final phases of preparing the scenery for performance on the main stage.
  • Interacts with other department and representatives in planning and execution of other non-theater campus events.
  • Supervises directing and managing hourly and temporary staff and overseeing guest technical personnel. Develops and implements training and safety programs used by all crew members. Makes process improvement suggestions.

  • Bachelor's degree

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
