Job Description
Grace is seeking an experienced Millwright Maintenance Lead to join our Manufacturing team. This is a daylight position and reports to the Maintenance Superviso, located in south Chicago at Grace's Chicago 71st site.
Responsibilities
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and work orders for adjusting, overhauling, orrepairing equipment and machinery, including pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Thread, cut, weld, drill, and prepare materials to complete work assignments.
  • Work alone or as part of a crew in/outdoors at the site, and may be required to work fromladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, and elevated platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Instrumentation and Electrical (I/E) department on motors, agitators,pumps, valves, and actuators, but not limited to these tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance shop and work area during the shift, and prepare for the next shift to follow.
  • Work with/around hazardous materials and be responsible for wearing the correct PPE necessary to perform work safely.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and precision maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new maintenance strategies and procedures to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Assist with the training and development of junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Operate forklifts and scissor lifts.

Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing with multi-craft experience(electrical, mechanical).
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and hands-on experience.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and understand units of measure(English and Metric).
  • Ability to physically maneuver in tight, high, or difficult spaces.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, compressors,and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuringinstruments.
  • Certified welder using MIG, TIG or other welding procedures.
  • Certified millwright.
  • Qualified in precision laser alignments.
  • Qualified in Rigging.
  • Strong background in metallurgy.
  • Expertise in fabrication and pipefitting.
  • Experience in working on chemical equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, utilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in mechanical maintenance or a relevant trade (e.g., millwright, industrialmechanic).
  • Experience with predictive maintenance techniques, such as vibration analysis or thermography.
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing facility or a similar regulated industry.
