Event Graphics information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Event Graphics Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Event Graphics Specialist, you need expertise in graphic design principles, a portfolio demonstrating creative visual solutions, and often a relevant degree or certification in graphic design or a related field. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), large-format printing systems, and sometimes 3D rendering software is typically required. Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with event planners and clients are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure the creation of visually impactful graphics that enhance event experiences and meet tight production deadlines.

What is the difference between Event Graphics vs Event Signage?

AspectEvent GraphicsEvent Signage
Design FocusVisual branding, promotional materials, digital displaysDirectional signs, informational displays, safety notices
Work EnvironmentEvents, trade shows, conferences, live venuesEvent venues, outdoor locations, conference centers
Required SkillsGraphic design, branding, digital mediaSignage design, installation, wayfinding principles

Event Graphics and Event Signage both play vital roles in event planning but serve different purposes. Event Graphics focus on branding and promotional visuals, while Event Signage provides essential information and directions. Understanding these differences helps in selecting the right professional for your event needs.

What are event graphics?

Event graphics are visual materials specifically designed to enhance the appearance and branding of an event. They can include banners, signage, digital displays, stage backdrops, posters, and promotional materials, all tailored to fit the theme and objectives of the event. Effective event graphics help communicate important information, guide attendees, and create a memorable atmosphere that reflects the event’s identity.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in event graphics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in event graphics often face tight deadlines and last-minute changes from clients or event organizers. Managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring high-quality, on-brand visuals can be demanding. Effective communication with event planners, vendors, and production teams is essential to avoid misunderstandings about specifications and delivery timelines. Staying organized, using project management tools, and maintaining flexibility can help address these challenges and ensure successful event outcomes.

Job description

Winston Collection, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Graphic Designer with a strong production art background to support our growing team. In this role, your primary focus will be vector art and production work - serving as the key intermediary between our production and service teams to bring designs to life accurately and efficiently. You'll manage logos, art packs, and design iterations in a fast-paced environment, ensuring every piece meets brand and quality standards before it reaches the customer. A passion for golf or familiarity with the golf industry is a bonus, but not required.
  • Full Time
  • Location: On-site - Rochester Hills, MI (Winston Collection HQ)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (some weekends as needed)

What You'll be Doing
  • Produce high-quality vector art and manage production files across a variety of customer projects
  • Serve as the intermediary between the production and service teams - communicating back and forth on designs to ensure accuracy and get artwork finalized efficiently
  • Build and maintain logos and art packs to customer and brand specifications
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Collaborate proactively with internal teams to confirm requirements, relay feedback, and drive projects to completion
  • Ensure consistency and quality standards are met across all production files and deliverables
  • Support photography and image editing/retouching needs as assigned

What We Need
  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design with a strong emphasis on production art and vector work
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud - Illustrator in particular
  • Strong understanding of design fundamentals: layout, typography, color theory, and file preparation
  • Experience working in a production environment with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage revision cycles and communicate effectively across teams to get artwork right
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing competing priorities independently
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in a deadline-driven environment
  • Photography and image editing/retouching experience is a plus
  • Golf knowledge or genuine interest in golf is a bonus, not a requirement

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working at a computer or workstation
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and keyboards
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via electronic communication
  • Occasional ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to move throughout the facility, including walking, bending, and reaching as needed
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read screens, documents, and reports

Benefits
  • 401K with company match
  • Health care (medical, dental, vision) after 90 days
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • PTO (vacation, personal days, 9 company holidays)
  • Opportunities for continuing education
  • Employee product discounts
