Summary:

The Community Engagement & Events Intern supports the planning and execution of community initiatives, in-store events, sponsorship activations, and local partnerships that bring the Gardner White brand to life. Working alongside the Director of Community Engagement & Events, this role provides hands-on experience in event marketing, community relations, brand activation, and project coordination. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, energetic, and passionate about creating memorable customer experiences while making a positive impact in the communities Gardner White serves.


Job Responsibilities:

Community Engagement

  • Research local organizations, schools, nonprofits, and community events for partnership opportunities.
  • Maintain community partnership calendars and contact databases.
  • Assist with outreach, correspondence, and relationship management.
  • Support volunteer initiatives and charitable programs.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Assist in planning and coordinating grand openings, in-store events, customer appreciation events, and seasonal activations.
  • Prepare event materials including signage, giveaways, registration materials, and branded merchandise.
  • Coordinate vendors, event logistics, and timelines.
  • Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Project & Administrative Support

  • Maintain project timelines, checklists, and event calendars.
  • Track inventory of event supplies and branded materials.
  • Support cross-functional meetings and planning sessions.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects that support the Communications + Design team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

This internship primarily operates in a regular office environment.

Physical Demands:

This internship may involve frequent bending, climbing, and lifting of heavy objects, as well as sitting or standing for extended periods.


Qualifications needed to perform this position:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; Canva experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in retail marketing, brand activation, or community engagement.
  • Flexible schedule to occasionally support evening or weekend events.
  • Reliable transportation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time internship position with flexible hours to accommodate a student’s class schedule, typically Monday through Friday.
