Job description

Description and Terms of Employment The attendant at the City of Monona's RiverRink outdoor ice skating rink (and Below Deck indoor concession stand) is responsible for greeting patrons and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, daily maintenance and upkeep of the concession stand facility, accepting admission, rentals and concession payments, and distributing food and beverages to customer orders. Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for the position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.

Perform various activities at the admission stand including, but not limited to, greeting and assisting patrons; checking season passes to ensure they are being utilized by authorized individuals; collecting fees for admittance; and maintaining records of patrons entering the facility. Supervise the Below Deck Concession Stand by enforcing rules and maintaining safe, orderly conduct. Assist patrons with ice skate rental needs.

Provide direction in the event of an emergency. Perform general maintenance such as shoveling or sweeping light snow off walkways and general cleaning of the Below Deck Concession Stand. Provide verbal and written reports to the recreation supervisor and maintenance crew.

Report acts of vandalism and/or equipment needing repair. Perform various activities at concession stand including, but not limited to, opening and closing the stand at designated times and maintaining the cash drawer. Operate cash register; accept payments and make accurate change.

Take concession orders; prepare, store and serve food in accordance with established health regulations; assist in maintaining order while individuals wait to purchase admissions and/or concessions. Operate various concession equipment, appliances and utensils; ensure that equipment and utensils are in proper working order. Attend staff meetings and participate in employee training sessions as required.

Qualifications Must be at least 14 years of age Must have experience in cash handling, including knowledge of basic addition and subtraction Must be willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends Knowledge and Abilities Excellent customer service skills Must be able to move frequently around the workspace during each shift Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision Knowledge of and ability to utilize proper telephone etiquette Must be able to effectively communicate with the general public and staff Must be able to operate a cash register and various food preparation machines Must be able to retrieve skates from shelves at various heights, from shoulder level to ankle level Must be able scoop ice cream from a floor freezer
