Description

SUMMARY

An Engineer provides support for projects and teams internally. This includes developing preparing plans and specifications, estimates of cost and reports, design calculations, and other activities in support of projects. The Engineer communicates internally with teams and between the firm and the Client, Sub-consultants, Local, State, and Federal Regulatory agencies, Public Authorities and the general public when directed.  The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, three to five years of professional experience in a relevant position, and an EIT Certification. IL PE License preferred. 

This individual must be a representative of the EDI brand and business development efforts and involvement in professional societies or other industry relevant organizations is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


Projects


The engineer position requires the individual to learn how to prepare plans and specifications needed to complete client projects and objectives. The individual is expected to have or be in process of developing knowledge of the transportation industry standards and requirements.  This individual is required to work on multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams, including individuals working remotely or in different offices under the supervision of more senior personnel. Local travel is required to job sites and various project meetings. Some out of region travel may be required.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Preparation plans and specifications preparation, design calculations and computer programs, as well as participation in industry societies and organizations and professional licensure is required.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university or the equivalent thereof, three to five years of professional experience in a relevant position, and an EIT Certification. IL PE License preferred. Requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.  The noise level on the construction site is often loud.
