POSITION SUMMARYThe Afterschool Boxing Specialist works directly with youth from diverse backgrounds to provide a safe, responsible, well-supervised afterschool program while acting as a positive adult role model. The Afterschool Boxing Specialist provides positive leadership and establishes a structured program to give Promise South Salt Lake program participants the stability and nurturing environment they need for growth and success. The Afterschool Boxing Specialist primarily works with the Central Park PAL Boxing program, provides coaching and mentorship, as well as a well-rounded program including academic support.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Deliver developmentally appropriate activities (academics and enrichment) which address grant objectives and goals for youth participating in the programBecome familiar with, select prepared, write new, and implement hands-on and project-based lesson plans in the areas of common core, character development, STEAM, fitness, and recreationLead and supervise groups of youth and address behavior issues when they ariseEnsure participants participate in homework, tutoring, or other academic activities to stay qualified for the boxing program Assist Assistant Coordinator in reporting requirementsCollect accurate attendance and activity participation of youth Communicate successes, challenges regarding youth to direct supervisorsConduct pre- and post- surveys according to grant requirementsAdditional responsibilities Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and all required staff meetings, trainings, and eventsServe snacks and dinner, as well as oversee meal times (may need Food Handler's Permit)Maintain daily cleanliness of all program areas (office, classrooms, gym, kitchen, etc.)Work at city-sponsored events, typically held 1-2 times per month on a Friday evening or Saturday morningPlease see PDF for more information.
