Job description

Find your purpose protecting the people who save people's lives! As the Security Officer your main responsibilities would be monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime and detecting and detaining violators of the law. Daily tasks to include but not limited to responding to hospital emergency codes, frequent patrol of lots and clinics in patrol squad, routine rounding on aggressive flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention, writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences, and liaison to orient responding law enforcement agencies.

Schedule:

  • Full-time 60-80 hours every 2 weeks 
  • Mid-day/Evenings shift | 10:30a-9:00p
  • Mon & Tues and e/o Sat, Sun (flex shifts)

Pay and Benefits:

  • Minimum hourly rate of $25.51 per hour; exact rate of pay determined by years of related experience
    • Pay range: $24.21-$37.08 per hour
  • Evening Shift Differential of $1.50/hr & Weekend Shift Differential of $1.05/hr
  • $2,000 hiring bonus

Qualifications:

  • Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and deal effectively with individuals/groups in a health care setting.
  • Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and a driving record in good standing required.
  • Must become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR and CEW (conducted energy weapon/Taser), as well as experience the effects a Taser within 6 months of hire.
  • A full set of fingerprints in accordance with Minnesota Statute 326.336 is required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
