Job Summary/Description:

WAFB-TV, the dominant CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, is seeking a primary news anchor to help lead our flagship newscasts and uphold the high standards our viewers expect. We are looking for a strong, credible on-air leader who can drive excellence not only on linear TV, but across all platforms, including digital.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Anchor WAFB’s newscasts with confident, accurate, and engaging delivery
- Play a leadership role in delivering breaking news, severe weather, and major event coverage across TV, streaming, web, and social platforms
- Work closely with producers and newsroom leadership on daily editorial decisions and show execution
- Write and edit scripts with clarity, urgency, and accuracy under deadline
- Contribute to WAFB’s digital presence by creating and sharing content (posting, streaming, short-form video, social engagement) that extends the reach of our journalism
- Participate in enterprise story development, interviews, and special coverage as needed
- Serve as a visible ambassador for WAFB through public appearances, community events, and station initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Demonstrated on-air anchoring experience; main/lead evening anchoring preferred
- Strong news judgment, solid newsroom ethics, and a calm presence under pressure
- Excellent writing and script-editing skills (AP style)
- Comfortable appearing on and creating content for multiple platforms, including digital and social
- Professional, approachable demeanor and commitment to representing the station publicly
- Team-first collaborator with high standards for accuracy and accountability
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications (or equivalent experience)
