THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION

Duties
Help
  • Performs a variety of network device configuration and connectivity tasks.
  • Executes procedures and coordinates corrective action to optimize network performance.
  • Implements the standard configuration software loads for all network devices.
  • Uses remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and user/system files.
  • Documents and tracks change to configuration, protocol and user/system files.
  • Executes appropriate action to ensure backup processes are completed.
  • Evaluates the performance of network devices such as servers, workstations, and peripheral devices, and remote access systems.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs with supported elements.
  • Implements plans and procedures for remote installation of applications and upgrades using state of the art software distribution methods.
  • Monitors distribution of applications and upgrades ensuring compliance with regulations and copyright laws.
  • Implements procedures to ensure accurate records of authorized users of distributed software are maintained.
  • Implements the standard operating procedures for all devices on the network.
  • Reviews and evaluates proposed software.
  • Analyzes equipment and software reliability and utilization reports to identify and define problem areas and to establish end-to-end systems performance levels.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Position requires a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

  • Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain/maintain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level II or III within 9 months of hire.

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E8, WO1 through CW4, O1 through O4
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: **25, 250, 17, 26**
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade, specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. This includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.
Education
To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the line of work.
For the GS-11 level: To qualify on education alone applicant must have one of the following: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related
Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-11 including qualifying with combination of education and experience.
