Job description

Description Job Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions:The Maintenance Planner Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities within the food manufacturing facility. This role ensures maximum equipment reliability, minimal downtime, compliance with food safety standards, and efficient use of maintenance resources. The coordinator works closely with production, quality, sanitation, and maintenance teams to support safe and continuous plant operations. Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all plant equipment and utilities. Plan and schedule corrective and predictive maintenance activities to minimize production disruption. Coordinates downtime planning process and milestones, including commitments, pre-outage forecasts, outage milestones and internal/external resource assignments. Prioritize work orders based on safety, food safety, production impact, and asset criticality. Ensure all work orders are properly documented, scoped, and resourced before scheduling. Trains and supports maintenance team members on planning and scheduling best practices. Perform all other related duties as assigned. CMMS & Documentation Manage and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Ensure accurate entry of asset data, PM tasks, parts usage, and labor hours. Generate and analyze maintenance reports (downtime, MTBF, MTTR, backlog, etc.). Maintain equipment records in compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF, BRC, MOC's). Inventory & Spare Parts Coordination Coordinate with the storeroom to ensure critical spare parts availability. Help identify minimum/maximum stock levels for maintenance parts. Support parts procurement and vendor coordination when necessary. Continuous Improvement & Reliability Analyze equipment failure trends and recommend reliability improvements. Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime and efficiency. Collaborate with maintenance, engineering and outside contractors on equipment modifications and capital projects. Safety & Compliance Ensure maintenance activities comply with food safety (SQF), GMP, and OSHA standards. Coordinate lockout/tagout (LOTO) planning and documentation. Support internal and external audits related to maintenance programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of industrial equipment (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems). Understanding preventive and predictive maintenance practices. Familiarity with food safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Competencies : Strong organizational and planning skills. Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination ability. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. The regular work schedule for the position is M - F, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with flexibility for variable hours (including occasional evening and weekend work) as needed to accommodate our continuous business operations. Required Education and Experience : Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of maintenance planning or maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or regulated environment. Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Dimo,). Additional Eligibility Qualifications : Qualified candidates must be able to understand, read, write and speak English. Work Authorization/Security Clearance : Candidates must demonstrate current US work status eligibility.
