Job description

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America's drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We're hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

As our Principal RF Engineer, you will serve as the chief technical architect and visionary for all wireless systems at the company. You will define our long-term technology roadmap, translating high-level business needs into elegant and robust hardware solutions. This role carries the ultimate technical authority for architectural decisions and requires a deep, intuitive understanding of both electromagnetic theory and practical system implementation. Your leadership will guide our technical strategy and ensure our products remain at the forefront of the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the company's long-term wireless technology roadmap in collaboration with executive leadership
  • Architect novel, end-to-end wireless communication systems, from advanced simulations of digital communication blocks to hardware topology
  • Translate ambiguous stakeholder and product requirements into detailed, actionable technical hardware specifications
  • Serve as the ultimate approval authority on all major RF architectural decisions, including technology selection, frequency planning, and system feasibility
  • Mentor senior engineers, providing expert guidance on our most complex technical challenges
  • Lead advanced research and development initiatives to explore and validate emerging wireless technologies for future products
  • Provide the final technical sign-off for the release of all wireless products to production

You should have the following

  • Master of Science (MSEE) required; Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in wireless systems architecture, with a proven track record of architecting and shipping complex products
  • Recognized expertise in electromagnetic theory, digital communication systems, and modern wireless standards
  • Mastery of system-level simulation and analysis for predicting real-world performance
  • Exceptional ability to bridge the gap between high-level business objectives and detailed engineering execution
  • Demonstrated history of technical leadership, mentorship, and influencing strategic direction

Nice to have

  • Advanced Education: A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Communications, Electromagnetics, or a related field
  • System Modeling: Deep proficiency with system-level modeling tools like MATLAB/Simulink to simulate entire end-to-end communication links
  • Cross-Disciplinary Expertise: Strong knowledge of adjacent fields such as Digital Signal Processing (DSP), baseband algorithms, and mixed-signal IC design
  • Business Acumen: Experience working with product and business leaders to perform technical feasibility studies and contribute to strategic technology roadmapping

US Salary Range

$150,000 - $225,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.

We're an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
