Job description

Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Recreational Services is seeking a highly motivated Evening Campus Recreation Coordinator. This position will be imperative for development of ongoing operations efficiencies and will contribute to the development of student employee evaluations and continued assessment benchmarks. The candidate selected must have the ability to work afternoon and evening hours, including split shifts and weekends. The schedule for this position will be 1:00pm- 10:00pm with flex weekend hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Coordination

  •  Assist with the daily operations of Johnson recreation center.
  • Assist in the monitoring of evening operations and programs.
  • Enforce compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the continued monitoring of staff operations systems and access.

Student Employee Management and Development

  •  Assist in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, day-to-day supervision and evaluation of student employees. Including but not limited to ongoing statistical evaluations, wellness and job effectiveness assessments.
  • Assist in the development comprehensive training programs, leading regular training and assisting in continued training opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary evening time operations specialist.

Safety and Risk Management

  •  Enforce all rules and regulations fairly and consistently to ensure patron safety.
  •  Respond immediately to emergency situations and administer first aid/CPR/AED as needed. (Selected candidate must obtain CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of hire. The department will coordinate and cover the associated certification costs.)

Administrative Support

  •  Maintain highly accurate records, staff certifications, and program participation data.
  • Prepare operational reports, incident reports, and updates
  • Work weekends, evenings, and a flexible schedule to ensure administrative coverage during peak operating hours.
