Job description

Evening Medical Laboratory Technician

Wellness Health Group is seeking an Evening Medical Laboratory Technician to join our growing clinical laboratory team. This position plays a key role in evening operations and end-of-day workflow management in a high-complexity laboratory environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently during evening hours, and able to maintain strong turnaround times while ensuring quality and compliance standards are met.

Shift Details

Primary evening shift ending at 10:00 PM.
Typical schedules may include:

  • 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Rotating weekend coverage may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming laboratory orders and specimens
  • Perform specimen analysis for chemistry, hematology, immunology, molecular/PCR, and related testing under CLIA/COLA guidelines
  • Interpret and release laboratory results in a timely manner
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly instrument maintenance
  • Perform calibrations, quality control, and troubleshooting procedures as required
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including QC logs, maintenance records, accessioning logs, and testing documentation
  • Process and package specimens for referral testing when applicable
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels and verify reagent/supply viability prior to use
  • Communicate with technical support when escalation or service is needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials
  • Comply with all laboratory safety, quality assurance, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards
  • Assist with evening closing procedures and preparation for next-day operations

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree or higher in a chemical, biological, or physical science
  • Ability to work evening shifts and rotating weekends
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment

Preferred

  • Previous clinical laboratory experience
  • Experience with PCR testing and/or manual DNA extraction
  • Familiarity with chemistry, hematology, and molecular instrumentation
  • Knowledge of CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • ASCP certification
