Job description

Academic Resource Center Peer Tutor - Mathematics
State Technical College of Missouri has an opening for a Peer Mathematics Tutor (part-time) to help others in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.
Required Qualifications:
  • Enrolled at State Tech during time of employment
  • College algebra grade of B or higher, or currently enrolled in college algebra, and in good standing in class (with recommendation from instructor)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to parents, students, faculty, administration, staff, and other employees of State Technical College of Missouri.
  • Good command of the English language, spelling, and grammar and/or advanced math and science.
  • Experience and/or understanding of technical education programs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Tutor students on both a drop by and scheduled basis.
  • Track the services of the Academic Resource Center (ARC).
  • Provide assistance for users of the ARC.
  • Provide learning resources as needed.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with ARC staff.
  • Promote ARC services to students, faculty and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

Hourly Pay Rate: $15 per hour. This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
Work Schedule: 10 hours per week maximum. Two shifts available, shift depends on availability, Monday-Thursday 3pm - 6pm and Friday 3pm - 5pm.
