Job description

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Marketing, the Director, Database Marketing will manage end-to-end planning, creation, execution and reporting of direct marketing campaigns. This position will align the direct channel strategies to be consistent with the company’s strategic marketing plans and meet overall growth, revenue and profitability objectives of the enterprise loyalty program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Partners with other marketing leaders to deliver on the marketing plan and ensure cohesiveness across all marketing channels.
2.    Leverages consumer insights to evolve creative execution and targeting strategies.
3.    Directs and coordinates business planning to ensure the means for establishing short and long-range objectives are consistent with company directives.
4.    Plans high performance, targeted marketing campaigns to reflect core brand values and optimize response among target consumer segments.
5.    Manages relationships with outside vendors to ensure timely, accurate, cost effective and value-driven production campaigns.
6.    Manages overall direct marketing offer reinvestment strategies.
7.    Engages and develops large team of database marketing professionals including the analysis, direct marketing and marketing systems teams.
8.    Develops an annual Direct Marketing Plan that provides strategic direction.
9.    Defines and enforces brand standards and guidelines across marketing campaigns, especially direct mail communications.
10.    Proactively initiates ideas for testing new campaign packages and concepts; work with internal and external resources to help design and execute.
11.    Collaborates with data science team and external vendors, as necessary, to build and apply predictive models to maximize customer profitability.
12.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.


 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Marketing, Finance, Computer Science, Business or other quantitative, analytical field required. 
  • Master’s Degree in one of the above disciplines preferred. 
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct marketing experience required. 
  • Minimum seven (7) years in a leadership role, directing and coaching others required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Experience in multiple communication channels including direct mail, e-mail, social media, search engine marketing and website development. 
  • Experience in Direct Marketing test design and analysis. 
  • Technical proficiency and knowledge in architecture that gathers customer information and feeds database solutions that drive and support Client Relationship Management (CRM) strategies. 
  • Prior experience developing and working with a customer database mandatory. 
  • Solid understanding of fully-integrated marketing plans and strategies. 
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research and the ability to synthesize and analyze data in order to draw conclusions and identify trends. 
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong client interface and presentation skills are mandatory. 
  • Ability to use marketing technology to drive revenue and automate processes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive toward results. 
  • Experience communicating with and leading a multi-cultural workforce and customer base. 
  • Experience with campaign management platforms. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite including; Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point. 
  • Presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate and to update, persuade and facilitate discussions will all levels of management. 


LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.

  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
