American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Surgery Intermediate (Step Down/PCU) unit position requiring at least 1 year of Step Down/PCU experience and AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
Job Details
• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM,
• 13-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week available,
• 26-bed Cardiac Surgery Intermediate Step Down/PCU unit,
• Patient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, and insulin drip management,
• Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1,
• Equipment includes Philips monitors, chest tubes, art lines, wound vacs, pacer boxes, pacing wires, drains, EKOS, Nicom, BiPAP, and Airvo,
• EMR: Epic,
• Weekend hours required as directed by the facility,
• No on-call requirements,
• Floating required on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg,
Job Requirements
• Active RN license - must meet eligibility requirements for licensure in Missouri or hold a current MO or compact RN license,
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only); no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment,
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Step Down/PCU experience required,
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required,
• No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months,
Additional Information
• Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available for the entire orientation week,
• RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO is not approved during the first week of the assignment,
• Only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment,
• Black scrubs are required; Mercy-logo attire is also acceptable,
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted,
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate,
• The facility is a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
