Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

Join our team as a Press Operator, where you will learn to operate and lead a press machine, either a Roto Gravure or Flexo printing machine. This role involves a comprehensive 6-8 month training process, starting with an assistant press operator position. Our company provides printing services and flexible packaging for renowned brands.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate and lead a Roto Gravure or Flexo printing machine.
  • Participate in a 6-8 month training process starting as an assistant press operator.
  • Hang rolls, manage fluids (inks), and change out dyes.
  • Support the Press Operator and complete the training checklist, which includes safety, color monitoring, press preparation, machine maintenance, un-wind and re-wind setup, web setup, main panel controls, and quality checks and audits.
  • Manage two press assistants effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanically inclined with strong prior machine operating experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in machine operation, production, and printing press.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred prior printing experience.
  • Prior forklift experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The plant is not temperature controlled, becoming warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter, though not extreme. The dress code is business casual. You will work a 12-hour night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule from 6:54 PM to 7 AM, with every other weekend off. The schedule is set for the entire year. Each shift includes two breaks and one lunch. Training could be during day or night shifts, depending on the trainer's availability. A minimum starting rate of $25.19/hr. is offered, plus a $1.25/hr. shift differential for night work or training.
