Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Layout Technician to join our Quality team. In this role, you'll program and operate precision measurement equipment — including the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Keyence Scanner, and Faro Arm — to verify that components, assemblies, and tooling meet customer and quality standards. You'll perform dimensional layouts, analyze results, and help drive corrective and preventive actions that keep our production quality on track.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Perform dimensional layout services to confirm parts and assemblies meet engineering and quality standards.
  • Calibrate hand tools and gauges, and maintain accurate calibration records.
  • Conduct capability studies, and maintain CM4D and Datamyte software.
  • Prepare dimensional reports, check them for accuracy, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Evaluate check fixtures for proper adjustment and function, and initiate corrective action when needed.
  • Develop gauging instructions and methods.
  • Assist with sample submissions.
  • Help maintain gauge records, including accreditation and logo mark accuracy on Metrology Gage certificates, and maintain GagePack software.
  • Support problem solving, corrective/preventive actions, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Follow our company's operating principles — including our Employee Charter, Open Door Policy, 5S, and a safety-first mindset.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college, OR 3–5 years of related experience/training, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong computer skills.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficient in PC DMIS software for CMM, CM4D, Datamyte, and Keyence Scanner.
  • Strong experience with Keyence equipment, Polyworks software, and FARO portable CMM.
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Comfortable with trigonometry, geometry, and basic math.
  • Basic knowledge of CMM and other measurement equipment maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and MSA (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, etc.).
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Self-driven, with strong problem-solving skills — able to define problems, gather data, and draw sound conclusions from technical or diagrammed instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted, along with bending, standing, climbing, and walking as needed.
  • General factory environment.

You should be proficient in:

  • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
  • Tape Measure Reading
  • Maintenance and Repair Skills
  • Workplace Safety & EHS Management
  • Mechanical Systems & Component Repair
  • Automotive Manufacturing Systems
  • CMM Programming

Machines & technologies you'll use:
