Job Overview
Position Summary: Conducts initial and final inspection of all parts sent to the Machine Shop for repair. Marks inspected parts and sends to appropriate department.
Tools and Equipment: Micrometer, verniers, templates, detail drawings, fork truck, cranes, hoists, small hand tools, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), FARO arm.
Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Performs initial inspection of all parts after disassembly and mark as necessary for repairs (i.e. "weld up bore", etc.)
  2. Perform final inspection on various repaired parts after the machining operation on the CMM or with the FARO Arm. Verify dimensions and tolerance prior to breaking mill or lathe set-up as requested or required.
  3. Inspect welds on all jobs prior to machine set up with Visual and Dye-Penetrant.
  4. Work with other departments on quality problems. Refer questionable problems to the Machine Shop/Shift Supervisor for decisions.
  5. Perform daily housekeeping as required.
  6. Perform other related duties within the department.
  7. Observe all safety rules.
  8. Operate CMM for inspection.
  9. Operate Faro Arm for inspection.
  10. Order replacement parts as needed.
  11. Cross functional work force

Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Trade School/Certification Preferred
  • Three years' experience in machine shop environment
  • Use basic math
  • Perform metric conversions
  • Perform trigonometric functions
  • Read assembly drawings
  • Read machine drawings
  • Read casting prints
  • Use tape
  • Use micrometer
  • Use calipers
  • Use dial indicators
  • Use depth mics
  • Use feeler gauge
  • Proper operation of fork trucks
  • Proper operation of cranes
  • Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical)
  • Knowledgeable of ISO
