Job description

Chick-fil-A Cypress Ranch is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kitchen Director, with at least two years of Chick-fil-A kitchen leading or directing experience, to lead our kitchen team and ensure the highest quality of food and service. As a Kitchen Director, you will play a key role in overseeing all kitchen operations, driving culinary excellence, and maintaining the Chick-fil-A standard for food safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. You will lead a team of kitchen professionals, ensuring smooth daily operations and fostering a positive work environment that upholds our commitment to exceptional service and food quality.

Position Type: Full-Time

Starting Pay: $25/hr

Schedule: 8-12 hour shifts, including morning, daytime, evening, and nighttime availability

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of kitchen staff, ensuring they are trained in kitchen procedures, food safety, and company policies. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and accountability.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage and oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and adherence to the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Inventory & Facilities Management: Oversee kitchen inventory, ensuring all ingredients, supplies, and equipment are well-stocked and in good working condition. Manage food ordering and control waste to maximize profitability.
  • Food Safety & Quality: Ensure all kitchen staff follow food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures. Maintain Chick-fil-A's food safety standards and consistently uphold high-quality food preparation practices.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for kitchen operations, including food quality, waste reduction, and labor efficiency. Make adjustments as necessary to meet operational goals.
  • Shift Management: Ensure all shifts are properly staffed and kitchen operations run smoothly during peak and off-peak hours. Manage team performance, resolve issues, and ensure all tasks are completed according to company standards.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement ways to improve kitchen efficiency, workflow, and product quality. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and integrate them into the kitchen's daily operations.
  • Collaboration with Front-of-House: Work closely with front-of-house leadership to ensure timely and accurate food orders, high customer satisfaction, and seamless communication between teams.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Conduct regular inspections of kitchen facilities and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
  • Mentorship & Training: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for kitchen staff, promoting growth and skill-building to ensure a high level of competency and service.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two years of Chick-fil-A kitchen leading or directing experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience with Food Cost, ERQA, Safe Daily Critical, Labor management, Shift Leading, Ordering Inventory, EOM Inventory, Food Cost Gap Report, Donation + Waste, and Ecosure.
  • Proven leadership experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant setting
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety standards, and food preparation techniques
  • Strong ability to manage and mentor a team of kitchen staff, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage inventory, food ordering, and waste control effectively
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems, kitchen equipment, and cooking techniques
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or formal training is a plus
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
