About CSI

Our story begins in Omaha in 1892, when, due to epidemics, poverty, and the difficulties of pioneer life, many children were left in need of parental care. CSI met the need in a revolutionary way – putting the well-being of children first and working to be a voice for the voiceless. We seek to champion children and families by providing the mental, emotional, and physical spaces they need to feel empowered and to thrive.

Child Saving Institute (CSI) is looking for someone who has a mind full of wonder and a heart-filled desire to make a difference! We’re on a mission to champion what’s best for each child and family.

As a Triage Specialist, you’ll be an essential part of our team. Your responsibilities would include supervising and caring for children and teens at the Triage Center, gathering safety and placement information, and facilitating medical exams and forensic interviews as appropriate. In short, our Triage Specialist will ensure children feel safe and supported while collaborating with community partners to advocate for their best interests.

Here’s who we are looking for…

Someone who:

  • Has a positive and reliable work ethic
  • Holds experience working with children and families
  • Can supervise and care for children awaiting placement
  • Can coordinate and advocate for the safety and well-being of children

What You’ll Get:

  • Flexible work arrangements, including evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Paid vacation and sick accruals
  • 10 paid holidays per year
  • 401(k) matching up to 5%, fully vested right away
  • Referral bonuses
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • The opportunity to be a part of a forward-thinking culture!

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of one year experience with at-risk families preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills in:
    • Child welfare issues and services and the processes of advocating for families and children within the system.
    • The needs of neglected, abused and exploited children; and
    • Child development
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual and (frequently simultaneously) to analyze and apply larger, systemic issues.
  • Ability to provide on-call coverage in the Triage Center.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and act accordingly or with minimal support from supervisor.  Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions in crisis situations.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clients with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics in the service population.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations and procedure manuals.

Vehicle Requirements:

  • Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points.
  • Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
  • Ability to complete a defensive driver course.

Environment:

  • Majority of work is at the Triage Center at Project Harmony, with the potential of community or home-based services.  Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet department needs.
  • Hours/schedule will vary and will include evening and weekend hours
