SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager the CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating a 5-axis CNC machining center for drilling, milling, and tapping using conversational programming along with CAMPLUS+SHAPE for Tekna machine center model TKE 955-7. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining the machine center to produce precise aluminum T-slot profiles while adhering to technical drawings and quality specifications. Candidate should be highly motivated, detail oriented and quality driven.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Machine Setup & Programming: Set up the CNC machine center for operation, which includes installing and adjusting tools, stops, guides, fixtures, and workpieces, and entering or modifying program specifications (e.g., speed, feed rates, cutting paths) based on blueprints or work orders.
  • Operation & Monitoring: Operate the computer-controlled machine center, monitoring equipment performance during the production cycle to detect issues such as dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, and making necessary adjustments to ensure quality output. Regulate machine by setting and adjusting controls using conversational programming.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished products using precision instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure they conform to specified dimensions and quality standards.
  • Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., checking coolant/oil levels, cleaning the machine) and troubleshoot malfunctions. Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and regulations, using required protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate production and quality logs and communicate any operational issues, equipment failures, or material problems to supervisors or the engineering team.
  • Material Handling: Prepare and load raw materials (e.g., aluminum profiles) onto the machine(s) and unload finished workpieces.
  • Other similar duties as assigned


DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Math Skills: Basic algebra and geometry skills for calculations related to machine speed, feed rates, and part dimensions.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial for ensuring the precision and quality of the finished products.
  • Experience/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required, with vocational training, a technical certificate, or minimum 3-5 years of CNC machine center operator experience preferred.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal) in English with employees within the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve machine malfunctions and production issues within assigned deadlines.
  • Physical Stamina: The role may require standing for long periods and the ability to lift loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: Regular, timely attendance and reliable transportation.
