Manual Machinist Overview
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Manual Machinist and become a vital contributor to precision machining operations. In this role, you will operate and set up manual and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce high-quality components. Your expertise in blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and precision measurement will ensure that every part meets strict specifications. We’re seeking energetic individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about craftsmanship, quality, and continuous improvement.

Manual Machinist Duties

  • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and CNC machines such as CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce precise parts.
  • Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and perform basic CNC programming adjustments as needed.
  • Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions.
  • Set up tooling, fixtures, and tooling adjustments to optimize machining processes for plastics injection molding or other materials.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on machinery, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic repairs using hand tools and power tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including shift reports, inspection logs, and quality records.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

Manual Machinist Requirements

  • Proven experience operating manual machining equipment such as lathes, mills, or grinders in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
  • Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding techniques, and plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, forklifts (certification preferred), and assembly equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while maintaining high standards of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills with team members to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement efforts. Join us to bring your craftsmanship to life in a role that values precision, innovation, and dedication!
