About the Role
Goshen Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to create and maintain electrical design documentation for industrial control panels, UL891 switchboards, power distribution products, and related control systems. Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, this role uses AutoCAD Electrical to develop electrical control schematics, single line diagrams, and drawing packages; supports Engineering and Production; incorporates customer, shop, and field changes; and provides technical support to Quality and Field Service. The position may be filled at Level I, II, or III based on demonstrated technical proficiency, assignment complexity, independence, judgment, project performance, communication, and competency development.
What You'll Do
  • Use AutoCAD Electrical to create, modify, and maintain electrical control schematics, single line diagrams, and drawing packages for industrial control panels, control systems, UL891 switchboards, and other power distribution products.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers and other engineering personnel to develop, document, and refine control and power circuits.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, bills of material, customer requirements, specifications, and engineering direction and translate them into accurate design documentation.
  • Work closely with Production to refine designs for accuracy, manufacturability, cost savings, efficiency, and successful execution on the shop floor.
  • Work with customers and internal project teams to incorporate approved design changes into control and power circuits and related documentation.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support to Production, Quality, and Field Service on design-related questions, discrepancies, and electrical issues.
  • Capture shop, field, and customer changes and maintain accurate as-built drawings, revisions, bills of material, component information, and related design records.
  • Validate drawing details, component information, and revision-control requirements before release or update.
  • Apply Goshen drawing standards and applicable electrical requirements, including UL891, UL508A, NFPA 70, and other applicable NEC/NFPA requirements as appropriate to assigned work.
  • Support multiple projects and responsibilities at the same time while maintaining accurate files, project documentation, revisions, and design deliverables.
  • Collaborate across Engineering Design, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Production, Quality, Materials, Field Service, and other functions to resolve technical and project issues.
  • At higher levels, independently complete complex drawing packages, make design recommendations, review work prepared by others, and support technical decisions and project execution.
  • At higher levels, improve electrical design practices, drawing libraries, documentation, and standardization.
  • Assist in training and developing less-experienced engineers, designers, and other team members as appropriate to the level of the position.

What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Two or more years of related electrical design, CAD, controls, power distribution, or engineering experience appropriate to the assigned level.
  • Strong electrical CAD skills and the ability to create and modify electrical schematics and related design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of controls and power circuits and the electrical components used in industrial control and power-distribution systems.
  • Good working understanding of UL508A Industrial Control Panel requirements and the ability to apply other applicable electrical standards and Goshen design practices.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify design issues and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • A proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated approach, with good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently at a level appropriate to demonstrated proficiency and recognize when additional guidance is required.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and documentation quality.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, Production, Quality, Field Service, customers, vendors, and other personnel.
  • Ability to travel to customer or vendor sites when required by the assignment.
  • Regular on-site presence and ability to work in office, engineering design, shop, manufacturing, and customer- or vendor-site environments as assigned; follow applicable safety and PPE requirements; and work additional hours when project workload, deadlines, or customer requirements require it.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, stoop, kneel, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive movements as required by the work; and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use computers, phones, and standard office equipment, as well as hand and power tools, machinery, testing equipment, measuring devices, and other equipment required for assigned duties.

Preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience with power distribution equipment, industrial control panels, UL891 switchboards, or related engineer-to-order manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting Production, Field Service troubleshooting, as-built documentation, or design changes in a manufacturing environment.
