Job description

Mantyx is at the forefront of innovation with its AI-powered surgical co-pilot, designed to enhance surgical intelligence. Combining advanced computer vision and surgical phase recognition, Mantyx delivers real-time, procedure-aware insights to optimize outcomes for surgical teams. By integrating live video, device signals, and clinical expertise, Mantyx ensures a patient-centric approach across every stage of surgery, from pre-operative planning to post-operative analysis.

We are now introducing AI in robotic surgery through a smart assistant that brings scattered information to the surgeon's fingertips via a voice-controlled interface, improving patient outcomes, sharpening surgical focus, and increasing hospital efficiency.

Your Role

We're looking for a Project Manager to bring structure and clear ownership to the technical projects that power our surgical AI platform. You'll keep engineering, AI, and clinical workstreams organized, on schedule, and visible to the people who need to know where things stand.

A significant part of this role is managing our subsidized and publicly funded innovation projects — VLAIO trajectories, EU funding programs (Horizon Europe, EIC, and similar), making sure deliverables, milestones, and reporting are handled with the rigor these funders expect.

This is a role for someone with a technical foundation: you need to understand enough about the engineering, AI, and product work — edge deployments, cloud infrastructure, AI/LLM pipelines — to plan it credibly, spot risk early, and keep a clean, unambiguous overview at all times.

What You Will Do

Build and maintain project plans across engineering, AI, and clinical validation workstreams, keeping timelines, dependencies, and risks visible to the team

Own the day-to-day management of subsidized and funded projects (VLAIO, EU/Horizon Europe, and similar): track milestones and deliverables, prepare progress and financial reports, and liaise directly with funding bodies and consortium partners

Make sure funded-project work packages, budgets, and timelines stay aligned with the terms of the grant or subsidy agreement

Act as the connective tissue between engineering, clinical/regulatory, and leadership, translating technical progress into clear updates for each audience

Establish lightweight, disciplined governance, sprint cadence, documentation, decision logs, that keeps a fast-moving deep-tech team organized without slowing it down

Run regular status updates and stakeholder meetings, in both Dutch and English

Flag blockers early, hold owners accountable to deadlines, and keep an accurate, real-time picture of where every project stands

Keep project documentation and tracking clean, current, and easy for anyone to follow, never messy

Your ProfileMust-Haves

3-5 years of experience managing technical or software projects, ideally in a fast-paced or deep-tech environment

A technical foundation strong enough to understand the engineering, AI, and product work well enough to plan and track it credibly

Excellent communication skills, you can translate technical detail clearly for non-technical stakeholders

A structured, organized approach: you keep a clear overview and don't let details slip

A strong sense of governance and process discipline, without becoming bureaucratic

Fluent in Dutch and English

Nice-to-Haves

Direct experience with VLAIO subsidy tracks (e.g. O&O, Baekeland, Innovatiemandaat) or EU funding instruments (Horizon Europe, EIC Accelerator, or similar)

Experience contributing to grant applications or funding proposals, not just managing awarded projects

Experience in a regulated industry (medtech, healthtech, or similar)

Prior consulting experience

Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira, Asana, or Linear

Prior experience at a startup or scale-up — comfortable creating structure, not just following it

What We Offer

Meaningful Impact - Work on a solution that improves the lives of surgeons and patients worldwide

Expert Environment - Daily collaboration with global surgical-robotics pioneers and deep-tech entrepreneurs

Growth & Ownership - A dynamic, agile environment with the autonomy to shape how our data quality practice scales as new modalities and use cases are added

Innovation-Driven Culture - Access to the ORSI Academy ecosystem, Europe's largest robotic surgery training and R&D center

Hybrid Working - 2 days working from home per week
