Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

The Etl Informatica Developer Remote and Data Warehouse Developer roles share similar skills like SQL and data modeling, often working in data-centric industries. While the Informatica developer focuses on ETL processes using Informatica tools, the Data Warehouse Developer may work on broader data architecture and database design. Both roles can be remote and require similar certifications, but their primary focus differs: ETL process automation versus data warehouse design and maintenance.

What are some common challenges ETL Informatica Developers face when working remotely, and how can they be addressed?

Remote ETL Informatica Developers often face challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams across different time zones, ensuring secure access to sensitive data, and troubleshooting complex data issues without immediate onsite support. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication channels, use secure VPNs or remote desktop solutions for accessing development environments, and participate in regular virtual meetings to stay aligned with project goals. Leveraging collaborative tools and maintaining thorough documentation also helps in overcoming remote work obstacles and ensures smooth project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ETL Informatica Developer (Remote), and why are they important?

To thrive as an ETL Informatica Developer (Remote), you need strong SQL skills, data warehousing knowledge, and experience with Informatica PowerCenter, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with databases like Oracle or SQL Server, version control systems, and certifications such as Informatica Certified Professional are commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective remote communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure efficient data integration, high-quality deliverables, and smooth collaboration in distributed teams.

How to Become a Remote ETL Informatica Developer

The qualifications that you need to start working as a remote ETL Informatica developer include computer and database maintenance skills and an understanding of Informatica software and Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes. Most employers expect at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer information systems. These positions also require SQL programming abilities. Informatica also offers professional certifications. You can pursue specialist certification as an Informatica PowerCenter Developer, an Informatica PowerCenter Administrator, or developer who specializes in data quality.

This role focuses on building, enhancing, and maintaining ETL processes using Python and AWS Glue to integrate data across Oracle and PostgreSQL systems.

You will collaborate with analytical teams to implement data solutions, contribute to new and existing workflows, and provide post-production support. What you'll be doing

•    Perform technical tasks including analysis, requirements gathering, development, testing (unit and integration), and support following SDLC practices
•    Develop and maintain data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, S3, and Redshift
•    Integrate data from external and internal systems using RESTful APIs and support API-based data ingestion and delivery
•    Collaborate with team members to deliver data solutions and support ongoing enhancements
•    Stay informed about current tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering, and apply them when appropriate
•    Support process improvements within the team to increase efficiency and quality
•    Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and help implement solutions

•    1–3+ years of experience in application development or ETL/data engineering roles
•    1-3 + years of experience working with data warehouses, operational data stores, or data marts
•    Hands-on experience with Python or another object-oriented programming language (Java, .NET, etc.)
•    Working knowledge of relational database systems and data integrity concepts
•    Basic to intermediate understanding of data modeling concepts (conceptual, logical, and physical design)
•    Familiarity with SQL and databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL
•    Experience working with or consuming APIs (REST/JSON) for data integration

Nice-to-Haves:
•    Experience working with ETL tools or frameworks (e.g., AWS Glue, Informatica, etc.)
•    Exposure to AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, and Aurora
•    Experience developing or integrating with APIs for data exchange (RESTful services, microservices)
•    Understanding of batch and/or real-time/event-driven data processing concepts
•    Familiarity with Big Data or NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hive, etc.)
•    Experience supporting or developing data pipelines in a team environment
