Job description

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant/Controller’s main responsibilities are processing contributions, monthly investments updates, and loan payments due to funds.

Essential Functions:
    1. Daily processing of donations/gifts, loan payments, and other cash receipts.
    2. Prepare invoices for monthly loan payments due.
    3. Bank Reconciliations.
    4. Investment statement summary and related journal entries, including

segregated funds.

    5. Reviews and inputs Frauenthal Center settlements. (use Etix software)
    6. Reviews and balances Kickstart Accounts for Mason and Muskegon County.
    7. Assist with preparing data for year-end audits, budgets and 990 reports.
    8. Act as back up for the Payroll/Accounts Payable Specialist – accounts

payable, payroll, sales tax reporting, etc.

    9. Prepare various account analyses and schedules as requested.
    10. Participate in employee training, including diversity, equity, and inclusion

training.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesOur ideal candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Strong accounting background with 5 or more years of demonstrated experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. oKnowledge of nonprofit, multi-fund accounting.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, taking initiative when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate well with others. oCommitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Community Suite or other fund accounting software.
