Job Summary:

Responsible for monitoring and achieving plant production and quality goals, following established procedures, monitoring all plant environmental parameters, and ensuring that all work permits and supporting documents are completed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Constantly monitor and control plant operations to carry out the established operations plan, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain complete and accurate production logs on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis of key variables and operate plant within established parameters. Completes written shift reports and communicates essential items to management as needed.
  • Lead shift operators to ensure that all tasks are completed according to established procedures and in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Communicates regularly with all process operators on shift, both individually and as a group to ensure consistent operation.
  • Participates in projects as needed or assigned by management that improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Directing, maintains and enforces the safety program for shift operations.
  • Communicates directly with QC laboratory and participates in carrying out plant QC policies and procedures. Actively participates in quality assurance/quality control program.
  • Provides a β€œCustomer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Abides by all safety, health, environmental and food/feed safety policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises at least 2 employees in production area.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent BA/BS in chemical, industrial or mechanical engineering or business administration, or a 4-year degree in related discipline preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the ethanol production process and technology is preferred.
  • Experience:1-2 Years in ethanol operation or a related field preferred.
  • A Post-Secondary education and or technical trade certificate is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the ethanol production process and technology is preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising others in a manufacturing operation is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and senior level management.
  • Proficiently working with various software programs.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
  • Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
  • Abide by company’s safety, quality, environmental and HR policies at all times.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit.
  • Frequently required to climb to levels of 125 feet or more, confined and harnessed. Use of stairs and ladders are required.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
  • Operate in an office and production environment. Production environment could include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the production environment is usually very loud.
  • This position requires the use of a respirator.
