We are seeking a strong Senior Estimator with experience in the Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil industry with a focus and project costs, approach to means and methods and innovative ideas for winning bids.

What you will do:

  • Thoroughly review and understand the project specifications and drawings.
  • Exhibit a good understanding of how the owner pays for the Schedule of Values.
  • Produce accurate take-offs and pricing of Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil components.
  • Complete cost estimates on project from $10M to $100M price range.
  • Solicit subcontractors and vendors for quotations.
  • Prepare/manage Minority Participation matrix.
  • Analyze self-perform activities versus subcontracted.
  • Prepare/assist in creating construction schedules.
  • Prepare/analyze equipment utilization schedule.
  • Update databases with labor rates, vendor plug values and equipment rates.
  • Complete cost estimates for assigned scopes of work on larger projects.
  • Provide mentoring for younger estimators.
  • Manage small group of assisting estimators.
  • Exhibit good communication skills with internal staff, subcontractors, vendors, client representation, etc. maintaining ethical standards.
  • Participate in Joint Venture estimates.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for projects.
  • Coordinate quantity and cost comparison with Joint Venture Partners.

To be successful in this role:

Required:

  • 4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Estimating experience
  • Technical training and /or related experience
  • Advanced math and computer skills

Preferred:

  • 10 years working in the field of Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil projects
  • Design Build/ P3 Experience
  • HCSS Heavy Bid, Microsoft products, Bluebeam, Smart Bid, Teams, Share Point, CADD, Viewpoint Vista & P6
  • Experience estimating all types of projects/contracts
  • Experience supervising others
