JOB SUMMARY

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Position Summary:

Performs all of the functions of a Pharmacist always under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. The Intern Pharmacist is responsible for learning and then performing all functions related to medication use over the required intern practical experience period. The Intern Pharmacist is responsible for learning and then performing all functions of the Pharmacy Technician.

Duties:

  • Accountabilities may vary based on the education level of the student.
  • Performs all tasks of the Pharmacy Technician.
  • Performs all tasks of a Pharmacist under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Performs all age specific tasks of Pharmaceutical Care:
  • Compounding of neonatal and pediatric dosage forms, such as oral and injectable syringes
  • Compounding of neonatal and pediatric TPN and IV products
  • Drug dosage modification determined by age and renal function estimate."
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assesses skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner.

  • Familiarity with all aspects of the Pharmacy Computer System.
  • Supervises and participates in billing and revenue collection functions of the Pharmacy, always following high ethical standards.
  • Assists in purchasing, receiving, inventory management, equipment management and other operational issues.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

  • High School Graduate
  • Enrollment in a College of Pharmacy
  • Two years of College (Pharmacy School Entrance Requirements)

  • Assault Response Competency (ARC) (required within 30 days of hire)
