Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Estimator will provide and/or coordinate all support services to the Sr. Estimator associated with the preparation of bids and proposals. Estimators will often work on a team on larger projects but may also be responsible for the complete process on smaller bids. Estimators are expected to price estimates for review.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Bid setup, summary form data entry, bid pricing, and bid scheduling.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Provide complete conceptual (or bidwork) and final estimating input on small projects.
  • Provide take off and technical support to Sr. Estimators preparing larger estimates
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Train and mentor Junior Estimators
  • Heavy Bid maintenance (labor, crew, activity, and bid master codebooks)
  • Solicit, document, and analyze subcontractor/vendors quotations.
  • Bid to project data transfer (phase codes and budgeting)
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Provide award related submittals
  • Track awarded contracts as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders and credit.
  • Assist contracting team during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education and experience requirements include: 4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations technical training and/or related experience.
  • Must have 3+ years estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience (at least 1 year estimating) in construction.
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort is essential
  • Must have the ability to prepare small and non-multispecialty proposals with minimal supervision. Incumbent will have oversight for profit/loss responsibility to the company.
  • Specialty estimating experience in one of Posillico's operations.

  • Strong technical and proposal writing skills
