Job description

The Senior Project Engineer at ESI provides essential support to the project management team in the planning, bidding, management, coordination, and execution of construction projects. This role involves administrative, procedural, and operational tasks to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with company standards and client requirements. This position will be based onsite in Reno, Nevada.

Responsibilities
  • Represent ESI as an ambassador to clientele, design teams, city officials, and subcontractors.
  • Provide administrative support to the project management team, including subcontract and purchase order administration, and change management.
  • Support all aspects of a construction project, including preconstruction, bidding, construction/operations, project close-out, and warranty.
  • Manage project documentation control, including organizing, maintaining, and updating plans (ASI's, CCD's, etc.), RFI's and responses, submittals, correspondence, logs, and taking and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Participate in bid activities, including bid review, securing adequate scope coverage, and estimating.
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents by creating and maintaining project schedules.
  • Represent the project management team in meetings and perform delegated tasks as directed.
  • Draft subcontracts and scope exhibits and assist in the distribution and tracking of related paperwork.
  • Support the change management process by requesting, tracking, and reviewing subcontractor pricing, and drafting subcontractor change orders.
  • Mentor and train other Project Engineers and Interns.
  • Make a positive contribution to ESI's culture and actively participate in company events and programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer.
  • Extensive expertise in building construction, materials, methods, scheduling, project accounting and cost control, contract structures, general conditions, subcontractor documents, and interpretation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in LEED and sustainable building principles, including green construction standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Can effectively search, navigate, and interpret contract documents (plans, specifications, RFI's, ASI's, CCD's, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs; specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Demonstrates leadership, integrity, perseverance, reliability, respect and self-discipline.
  • Demonstrates personal motivation, initiative, and potential for growth
  • Shows an aptitude for management and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Possesses organizational skills and is detail oriented.
  • Current safety certifications, including OSHA 10-hour.
  • SWPPP certification (desired).

Physical Demands
  • This position may require frequent travel by motor vehicle.
  • The role may involve extended hours on construction sites, necessitating physical stamina to move around the premises.
  • The ability to lift and/or move materials and tools is essential, with a maximum weight limit of 50lbs. These tasks may vary and are not required to be performed daily.
  • Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, whether individually or in a team environment, are vital aspects of the role.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company policies, are necessary for performing work safely and effectively.

Travel Requirements
  • May occasionally be required to travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings. May be asked to relocate on site or to remote/satellite office, depending on project schedule and needs.

Salary Range Disclosure
In accordance with applicable state laws, the expected salary range for this position is $90 - $115k. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
