Job description

UMB's success is directly impacted by the growth of our Commercial Real Estate loan portfolio. The team consists of Portfolio Managers, Underwriters, and Relationship Managers. This team manages Commercial Real Estate throughout its life - developing meaningful connections with management of the companies they serve. The vast majority of Commercial Real Estate loans include construction and refinancing of multi-family, office and industrial projects. Always mindful of the changes in the Commercial Real Estate industry, etc., over time that might create a change in their financial service needs. The team takes great pride in seeing a Commercial Real Estate loan project through it's initial planning stage to completion.
As the Sr. Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager, you will be engaged in non-owner-occupied commercial real estate ("CRE") lending including construction loans, interim loans, permanent loans, and refinancing of real estate loans. Production goals for both new loan originations and deposits will be assigned.
How you will spend your time:
  • Serve as an expert on CRE loans for the market.

  • Generate new CRE loan and cross-sell opportunities with new and existing clients as well as underwrite the collateral property, market and guarantor; structure the loan; prepare the loan approval package; present the request to loan committee for consideration; and negotiate and document the loan in conjunction with the assigned Loan Closing Coordinator and outside legal counsel (as applicable).

  • Oversight and mentoring of junior CRE lender(s) in the market, which may include providing training as needed as well as participating in discussions re their loan opportunities and relationships, etc.

  • Oversight of a portfolio of CRE loans, which includes the following responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Construction Loan Disbursement Group, review monthly construction loan draw requests to ensure construction remains on budget and on schedule.

  • In conjunction with the assigned REG Portfolio Manager, monitor the collateral property performance to ensure absorption, operating performance, etc meet covenant requirements and are consistent with the approval and appraisal assumptions.

  • In conjunction with the assigned REG Portfolio Manager, prepare renewals, modifications (as applicable) and annual reviews of the loans.

  • In conjunction with the assigned REG Portfolio Manager, perform regular reviews of property and guarantor financial condition to ensure the highest credit quality as well as the continued appropriateness of the risk rating. Recommend risk rating adjustments as needed.

  • Some travel to California and / or New Mexico may be necessary.

  • Represent UMB as the senior CRE lender in the market

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 7+ years Commercial Real Estate lending and underwriting experience

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of CRE credit and underwriting

  • Demonstrates ability to be self-starter and show initiative

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Demonstrates ability to manage time and projects effectively

  • Demonstrates proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Compensation Range:
$99,750.00 - $214,370.00
The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB's standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
