What is essay writing?
What are essay writing jobs?
Essay writing jobs include a variety of positions that help teach students how to write essays. Some essay writing jobs focus on specific areas, such as the college admissions process, and help students learn how to create a persuasive and creative narrative throughout an essay. Many essay writing jobs also focus on expository content, such as some types of academic report writing. This can be a full-time position, but many essay writing jobs are part-time and focus on helping students who are struggling with various aspects of the writing process. This role should not be confused with writing essays for students as a job, which is typically banned by their school.
What are some common challenges faced by essay writers working for academic writing services, and how can they overcome them?
What is the difference between Essay Writing vs Content Writing?
| Aspect | Essay Writing | Content Writing |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Focus | Academic and analytical essays | Online articles, blogs, marketing content |
| Required Skills | Research, critical thinking, formal writing | SEO, audience engagement, concise writing |
| Work Environment | Educational institutions, freelance, academic settings | Digital marketing agencies, online platforms |
| Common Certifications | Writing degrees, academic credentials | Content marketing certifications, SEO courses |
While both essay writing and content writing involve strong writing skills, essay writing emphasizes academic research and formal analysis, whereas content writing focuses on engaging online audiences with concise, SEO-friendly content. Understanding these differences helps writers choose the right career path or project based on their skills and interests.

Course Description
- Personal Statement Writing:
Personal Statement instruction is not an afterthought but a significant part of the daily schedule. Students receive one-on-one advice and instruction from the best English educators, in order that they may complete this portion of their application by the end of the program
In the college admissions process, the Personal Statement is a chance for your student to stand out in the crowd. Personal statements are a significant platform to demonstrate their facility with writing, allow their uniqueness to shine through, and identify less quantifiable characteristics for college admittance. College Admission Prep Camp offers every student hours of one-on-one consulting with expert writing instructors to hone this critically important piece of writing.
Personal Statement Writing teaches students how to present themselves in the most positive light during the college admission process. Students will learn to express their self-awareness, imagination, and curiosity which will help them to be attractive candidates for selective colleges. Students learn how to choose a topic, develop ideas, edit for content and style, and avoid common pitfalls that weaken an applicant’s chances of admission. By the end of the program, each student will have written 2-3 essay responses from the frequently used Common Application and exploration of supplemental essay topics that are ready for submission with his or her college application.
- College Counseling: Even at the most prestigious private high schools, the ratio of students to counselors can exceed 100:1, offering minimal individual contact and attention. College Admission Prep Camp provides each participant with direct access to some of the top guidance counselors in the country. After taking an initial interest inventory, college counselors help to identify excellent universities that are appropriate for each student’s interests and academic background. Students leave at the end of camp with a list of potential schools that have been reviewed, researched, and discussed individually with a college counselor.
Job Description:
The Personal Statement/College Counseling Instructor is responsible for guiding students through two components of our College Admissions Prep Camp Instruction: First, they will help each student complete 1-2 longer or several shorter personal statement responses so that are ready or nearly ready for submission with their college applications. The goal of the curriculum is to help each student through the process of brainstorming, writing, and revising a strong essay that is entirely the student's own work. The instructor will deliver group instruction on writing for college admissions and will give students one-on-one feedback on their writing.
In addition, the instructor will lead a small group and one-on-one college counseling sessions with the students. They will walk them through the admissions process from A to Z helping them to create a detailed timeline/action plan based on their individual goals. As part of this process students will create a list of schools they wish to apply to that includes some safe schools, some reach schools and some just right schools. Students will make note of admissions deadlines so that they can backward plan a strategy for maximizing their chances of acceptance at one of their top choice schools.
Class sizes are kept purposefully small (average 10 students) to allow teachers the ability to really give students the personalized attention and feedback they need. In addition to teaching, instructors will be responsible for assisting students as needed in one-on-one feedback sessions. Instructors will also be responsible for tracking student work and handing in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office.
On-Campus Additional Duties:
In addition to teaching responsibilities, on-campus instructors should be available and willing to assist the camp director with active supervision, recreational activities, and some administrative tasks. Instructors should be mature, reliable, and able to work well with fellow staffers. Instructors are also expected to act as mentors and will help guide students on excursions. With the support of the entire staff, instructors are responsible for the health and safety of students, in addition to fulfilling instructional objectives.
Qualifications:
The ideal instructor will have significant writing and college counseling experience, as well as classroom management skills. Most importantly, instructors should be supportive of student work and excited to help students improve their writing skills in the classroom and in feedback sessions.

- The willingness and ability to work long hours.
