Description
The Head Esports Coach is responsible for the coaching organizing, and administering of all operations associated with the varsity Esports program with the competitive Eastern College Athletic Conference. The Coach is responsible for the daily operations and administrative oversight of the Esports Room and program in support of all student activities and programming related to Esports, including personnel, risk management, team practices and competitive activities.
Examples of Duties
Oversee all aspects of a competitive varsity eSports program including but not limited to practice planning, game preparation, scouting, in-game coaching, budgeting, and scheduling40
Develop an outreach and recruitment plan for prospective Esports athletes to enroll and then retain qualified, competitive student athletes. Implement that plan in recruiting Esports athletes
25Assist with managing and maintaining all hardware, software, and other equipment and overseeing operation of the Esports room. 30Provide engagement opportunities for gaming and utilization of the facility, via partnerships with academic programs, club and recreational programs, informal student involvement, and spectators
10Develops and publishes team rules regarding practice, class attendance, punctuality, dress code and general standards of behavior, with the approval of the assigned administrator. Enforces such team rules with appropriate disciplinary actions.

Supplemental Functions:
  • Assist with monitoring academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes in accordance with applicable bylaws and university standards
  • Arranges a competitive event schedules, in conjunction with the assigned administrator.
  • Compiles data and reports to meet Departmental and University requirements.
  • Oversees the conditioning and training of team members to ensure that student athletes are physically prepared for competition.

Typical Qualifications
Bachelors required in a related field, master's preferred
  • 1-3 years of successful coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level with head coaching experience highly preferred.
  • Experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of Rainbow 6, Fortnite, Valorant, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Smash Bros or similar games
