Job Description
Syracuse University Esports is seeking a part-time Social Media Manager to support the program's social media and digital storytelling efforts. This role will assist with the planning, creation, and execution of content across Syracuse Esports' social platforms, with a focus on improving consistency, technical quality, and balanced coverage across teams and events. The selected candidate will work closely with the Director of Production & Outreach, who will continue to lead the overall marketing direction for the program. The Social Media Manager will provide content creation expertise, platform-specific recommendations, social media calendar support, and guidance on what student-captured assets are needed to support planned content. This position is ideal for a creative professional with experience in graphic design, video editing for both short and long-form video, and social media management who is interested in helping grow one of the leading collegiate esports programs in the country.
Education and Experience
  • Experience creating and managing social media content for a brand, team, program, organization, creator account, sports property, esports program, or similar entity.
  • Experience creating short form content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and X.
  • Experience editing long form video content such as recaps, features, interviews, storytelling pieces, or YouTube content.
  • Experience using professional creative tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Canva, CapCut, Unreal Engine, Blender, or equivalent platforms.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong technical skill in video editing, graphic design, and digital content creation.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, especially how content should differ between Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to create and follow a content calendar while balancing multiple teams, events, and program priorities.
  • Strong visual storytelling skills and the ability to turn raw photos, video clips, match moments, student stories, and program updates into polished content.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining communication, deadlines, and organization.
  • Strong writing skills for captions, promotional copy, post descriptions, and social media messaging.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and posting of content for Syracuse University Esports social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
  • Build, maintain, and execute a social media content calendar that provides consistent and balanced coverage across Syracuse Esports teams, events, broadcasts, student stories, facilities, partnerships, and program initiatives.
  • Track content performance and provide basic recommendations based on engagement, reach, follower growth, video performance, and platform trends.
  • Create high quality digital content, including short-form videos, long-form video edits, graphics, thumbnails, motion graphics, photo edits, promotional posts, event recaps, player/team features, and platform-specific content.
  • Develop content ideas and recurring content series that can help grow the Syracuse Esports audience and increase engagement across platforms.
