Job description

Instructional Assistant

35 hours per week plus benefits

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Assist in the special education students' daily education plan program including development and implementation of instructional program
  • Regularly lift students up to 40 lbs. individually and /or push students in wheelchairs over 100 lbs.
  • Understand and report upon the medical needs of students, including constant use of universal precautions
  • Assist with behavior management, therapy, and communication programs and techniques as directed by the supervisor(s)
  • Feed students or help students feed themselves
  • Assists students with toileting (including changing diapers), self-care, range of motion, and comfort tasks
  • Manage required forms, records, and daily logs with accurate documentation of student performance
  • Helps students master instructional equipment and materials assigned by the teacher
  • Attends professional development and implements new practices successfully
  • Assist with loading and unloading of students on the busses
  • Provide sanitation of room and equipment, including items used by students
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance
  • Is well organized, responsible, flexible, has a strong work ethic, and takes responsibility
  • Demonstrates good communication skills
  • Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies, and Employee Handbook
  • Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objectives
