Job description

TLE: TEACHER- Multilingual Language Arts Teacher- Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS: Proper Illinois Certification,  ESL and ELA endorsement required (Bilingual Spanish Required)
REPORTS TO: Person designated by the Board or the Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.  Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Works collaboratively with educational teams to support multilingual students.
2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities
of the students.
3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and
interests of the students.
4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate
supervisor.
5. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom
in a fair and just manner.
6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum outcomes and communicates to
students clear objectives for all lessons and projects.
7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, including the use of technology, to meet the needs and
challenge the capabilities of the students.
8. Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional outcomes.
9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
10. Diagnoses the needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as
required.
11. Works cooperatively with colleagues as members of a team to accomplish school and district goals.
12. Implements the district's Health and Accident/Injury Procedures and Blood borne Pathogens
Exposure Control Plan.
13. Supports and implements the district's Risk Management Policy to ensure that statutory and common
law health and safety rights are extended to all visitors, employees, and students, to provide careful
supervision and protection of all District real and personal property.
14. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulation.
15. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
16. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside
the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
17. Maintains an appropriate level of communication with parents.
18. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
19. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
20. Demonstrates evidence of professional growth.
21. Performs additional duties as assigned.
CONTRACT AND COMPENSATION
182 day contract
Starting salary is $50,000 for a first year BA, with the final salary determined by education and experience
12 sick days/4 personal days
HMO-PPO Medical & Dental Insurance (HMO employee only - no cost)
Tuition reimbursement
