Job description

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant that will provide a wide variety of secretarial, clerical, and computer functions in support of the Beginner ESL Program's administrative and academic activities, and daily operations.

This is an hourly, part-time position.

Example of Duties:

  • Assist in daily student intake and registration of students
  • Communicate with students, staff, visitors, and members of the public via telephone, electronic media, and in person. Provide information regarding College programs, activities, and policies
  • Coordinate student orientations
  • Assist with BestPlus Testing
  • Perform data entry and operate computer software programs in use at the college; produce correspondence, documents, and classroom materials. Assist with courses management, including rosters, attendance and record-keeping
  • Use Microsoft Suite platforms to facilitate and monitor instructor/student interactions
  • Manage classes including attendance and record-keeping
  • Maintain file systems, logs, and records in electronic and hard copy formats
  • Compile data and information for reports and analyses
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or secretarial business school completion; Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience in higher education administration preferred
  • Demonstrate some experience in use of an integrated student information system (preferably Ellucian Colleague)
  • Good computer and communication skills
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality 
  • Best Plus certification preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish and experience working with ESL students a plus
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as program requires

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $15.92-$17.
