Job description

What We Offer:

The Novant Health Pediatric Cardiology team is seeking a full-time Cardiac Sonographer I to assist their clinic.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

This position primarily supports our Midtown location, with occasional support provided to satellite locations in Cornelius, Carmel, and Waverly

The Cardiac Sonographer I is responsible for daily operations of the echo lab, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality improvement. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the anatomy and pathology. The sonographer is proficient in performing basic transthoracic echoes and transesophageal echoes. The sonographer should have knowledge in diagnostic digital images and hemodynamic data for physician interpretation. Work closely with Cardiologist to obtain optimal echocardiography quality.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.
    • Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, preferred.
  • Experience:  1 year of experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Cardiac Sonographer, credentials RDCS or RCS (New Graduates will have 6 months to pass registry), required. 
  • Additional Skills (required): Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
    • Ability to evaluate echocardiogram in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
    • Ability to shift workload to meet patient needs.
    • Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum echocardiogram information in each examination performed.
    • Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
    • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
    • Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of echocardiography interpretation, echocardiography skills, and considerable echocardiography abilities.
    • Communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs.
    • Ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Review daily schedules to ensure timely patient flow
  • Communicate with the lead regarding priorities and workflow
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure their comfort
  • Prepare and perform required scans prior to examinations
  • Document findings and complete accurate reports
  • Clean and sanitize exam rooms between patients to maintain safety standards
