Description
CAMS is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Gavin Generation is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is majority owned by Energy Capital Partners and a minor stake is held by Javelin Global Commodities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of budgets and forecasts
  • Perform variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings
  • Prepare and post journal entries and other financial transactions
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models and spreadsheets
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools to support data-driven decision-making
  • Use Power Query and/or similar tools to automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support decision-making
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
  • Process invoices and manage accounts payable/receivable transactions

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 3-7 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or finance
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, financial modeling, etc.)
  • Experience with general ledger maintenance and reconciliation
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Power Query and/or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
