Description
Popli Design Group (PDG), a multi-disciplined Architecture/Engineering firm is seeking candidates interested in learning to perform Transportation Construction Inspection (TCI) duties on transportation type projects (highway, bridge, culverts, etc...) Normal duties include but not limited to are field measurements and collection of data necessary to submit daily progress reports along with quantity calculations used to generate progress payment estimates. The ability to read plans, communicate well, and use various computer software applications are desired skills for this position.
Responsibilities
• Inspect progress of basic construction operations (Earthwork, Pavement, Structural Components, Scaffolding...)
• Verify conformance of material with Standard Specifications by carrying out field tests (Concrete, Compaction...)
• Interpret documented characteristics of objects and materials used in construction
• Recognize unsafe construction procedures and site conditions
• Inspect erosion control and protection of environmental features and utilities
• Identify measured and/or tested properties and provide appropriate notification(s) and Report(s)
Required Skills

• Microsoft Suite and a willingness and ability to learn new software

Experience and Education,
• Bachelor's degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology)
• 2-3 years of substantive transportation or highway/bridge construction experience
• NJDOT Site Manager experience - Required

• ACI Concrete Field Testing
• NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists)
• Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator)
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour
Work Environment and Physical Demands
• Construction Project Site(s) and Field Offices. Daily travel to the job site(s) is required
• Ability to lift and move average weights (15 lb.)
• Ability to stand / walk on uneven terrain
• Ability to work on elevated surfaces / platforms
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
