We help job seekers and career changers prepare for and advance in careers with a focus on sustainable, high-growth, high-demand industries. Our committed and well-trained workforce professionals deliver comprehensive workforce solutions at integrated career centers, sector-focused centers and community, and partner sites.

The position will provide support to the WIOA Youth program by ensuring customers are eligible for program enrollment and services. Explores barriers to determine youth eligibility, as well as any youth affiliated programs (AEL), verifies ongoing eligibility for continued services and ensures case files contain appropriate documentation to avoid disallowed costs. Ensures all services are data entered according to policies and procedures accurately and in real time as service is provided to the job seeker in the appropriate system (WIT).

Job Description
  • Assists customers with enrollment in Career Office federally funded services.
  • As part of a cross-functional, multi-program team, demonstrates knowledge of services, labor market information, and multi-program services
  • Coordinates activities and conduct outreach with Adult Education/Literacy partners, local school districts, community-based organizations, and employers.
  • Interviews customers to assess and record information regarding training needs, education, experience, skills, interest, and other relevant factors to determine clients' career development opportunities and eligibility of benefits.
  • Accurately determines eligibility in accordance with local, state, and federal policies and procedures to ensure adequate and proper utilization of program funding.
  • Collects and verify proper documentation and conduct data entry as required.
  • Provides ineligible individuals with alternative resources within the center and community
  • Documents in counselor notes that a determination was made regarding an applicant’s eligibility status for WIOA youth program consideration.  This entry should indicate that the applicant’s eligibility status is either complete or incomplete & pending or denied.
  • Ensures counselor notes contain factual information, professional decisions and be written professionally and with integrity. 
  • Assists individuals in determining what additional information may be needed for eligibility determination
  • Thoroughly documents and ensures each participant meets all the criteria and necessary documentation is accurate and placed in the customer file
  • Ensures updates to any TWC guidelines are adhered to.
  • Ensures Work in Texas and Wagner-Peyser is complete prior to program enrollment
  • Verifies all funding streams have been explored and case files updated accordingly, co-enrolling as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from a recognized community college, or comparable years of related case management and job matching experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Sound knowledge of workforce programs (SNAP, TANF, WIOA, NCP, RESEA, TAA, SEAL)
  • Demonstrate reliability and able to work independently
  • Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources
  • Public speaking experience
  • Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software programs
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, coworkers, workers from other programs as well as the public
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Have a current driver's license and auto insurance
